MR-14EX II features a highly durable metal mounting foot same as Speedlite 600EX-RT, for secured flash installation. With an improved quick locking mechanism, hot shoe and contact reliability is further enhanced - a dust-wipe mechanism can remove dust and dirt stuck to the hot shoe contact, while a variable contact pressure design can improve transmission reliability by varying the pressure at the contacts, enabling the camera and flash contacts to remain firmly in touch while preventing scratches on the hot shoe, making it easier to attach and remove. The flash will also implement 2-line transmission for important signals. With the backup contacts, transmission accuracy is greatly improved. Also, Lens Cap E-67 II is included for attaching at the front of flash to prevent dust and dirt build-up, and protects against scratches and bumps when the expensive lens isn't in use at work.

Compatible with Canon's wide range of EF Macro lenses*1, the Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II supports E-TTL II autoflash and manual flash, allowing users to deliver accurate and consistent exposures. This flash also offers users a pair of independently-controlled left-and-right flash tubes, and a maximum Guide Number of 14 (meter; ISO 100) for dual sides firing simultaneously or 10.5 (meter; ISO 100) for single-side firing, allowing users to explore unique and creative lighting set ups when working close up at high magnifications. Improved focusing lamps utilize new high-brightness white LEDs with 5-step brightness adjustment, which offers enhanced focus assist than its predecessor– making it easier to focus in low-light conditions.

Optimized for the job duties of professional users, MR-14EX II provides a shorter recharging time and silent recycling, which helps users to catch critical moments, and it's also ideal for users who capture more timid subjects. Equipped with new quick flash function and color temperature information transmission features, users can also press the shutter confidently at the best timing and perfectly adjust to different situations.

Users can also employ the Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II as a wireless optical master unit to operate and trigger stunning lighting effects agilely, with wireless control of up to 3 groups (A, B, C) of external flashes.

Optimized operability for the controllable results

Inheriting the advanced control interface of Speedlite 600EX-RT, MR-14EX II allows users to easily adjust the flash settings and makes custom adjustment of lighting ratios via an integrated LCD panel, in order for better operability. 12 new custom functions and 3 new personal functions are also available, giving users the freedom to further adjust settings to meet specific creative challenges.

The Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II also offers enhanced body design and provides a range of new features. Leveraging on the compact flash control unit with improved connection cord arrangement, the height and amount of protrusion when attached to the camera is reduced, improving usability in tight spaces. And the cord is now attached to the left of the flash's body, preventing interference with the camera's shutter button. New functions of this second generation flash include the control from EOS DSLR's menu, a new indictor that displays the flash's recharge progress, the memory function to save and load flash settings, plus a 67mm filter thread provided at the front of the flash unit for using an optional protective filter*2 or circular polarizing filter, allowing users to concentrate on producing the desired outcomes without being hindered by any configuration difficulties.
