Beautiful 6K 30P Movies

The full-frame sensor offers a shallow depth of field and large bokeh for enhanced creative expression. At the same time, faster signal readout minimises rolling shutter distortion during video recording. Coupled with the DIGIC DV 7 processor, it supports high-speed image processing, enabling 6K 30P internal RAW recording and 4K 4:2:2 10-bit recording through 6K oversampling.

6K Back-Illuminated Stacked Full-Frame CMOS Sensor

1. Enhanced 4K image quality with 6K oversampling1

2. Supports Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

3. Low noise & wide dynamic range of 16 stops

4. Automatic base ISO changing with 3 base ISO (800 / 3200 / 12800)2

1 Recording is possible at up to 6K 30P (RAW) and 4K 120P. When 4K 120P is selected in Super 35mm mode, the angle of view is cropped at approx. 6%.
2 With Canon Log 2/3 and RAW recording at HDMI RAW setting

Full Array of Interfaces

A Diverse Array of Interfaces for Professional Excellence

The newly integrated SDI terminal allows for simultaneous output alongside the HDMI terminal, providing seamless connectivity with a variety of external devices. Additionally, with the camera's built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet terminal, users can effortlessly operate the camera remotely and monitor its status from a smartphone or computer, unlocking new levels of flexibility and control.

Professional Audio

Two 3-pin Mini XLR Input

Audio Control Dials

Professional microphones can be attached to the EOS C80's two mini XLR terminals with 48-volt phantom power to record high-definition audio. A 3.5mm microphone input is also available for connecting different microphones.

The EOS C80 features dedicated dials on the back of the camera body for precise audio control, allowing for easy and intuitive adjustment of recording levels for channels 1 and 2.

Highly Mobile, Compact & Lightweight Design

The EOS C80's compact and agile body is perfect for capturing dynamic shots, whether handheld, on a gimbal, or in motion. Its integrated grip offers stability and comfort, even for larger hands, ensuring precise control during extended shoots. This design empowers you to focus on your creative vision with confidence, no matter the scenario.

Spectacular 4K Image Quality with 6K Oversampling

Achieve crystal clear high definition 4K video with up to 6k readout oversampling*.
4:2:2 10-bit high-resolution recording is enabled through oversampling of the full-frame 6K sensor during 4K/2K movie recording.

*When using XF-AVC, XF-HEVC S, XF-AVC S recording, full-frame sensor mode, and frame rate of 60P/50P or lower.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

High-performance subject detection is made possible by the deep learning-based EOS iTR 1 AF X algorithm, which works in tandem with the incredible speed, accuracy, and field of view of Dual Pixel CMOS AF II. The focusing area is approximately 100% x 100%.

The EOS C80 can now detect human body2 and animal3 through the introduction of EOS iTR AF X.

1 Intelligent tracking and recognition.
2 When eyes, face, or head are hidden during AF tracking, the body is detected and tracking continues.
3 Detection of animals other than dogs or cats is not supported.

High Frame Rates

Get cinematic slow-mo shots of up to 7.5x with the EOS C80's high-quality 4:2:2 10-bit - 2K 180p and 2K/4K 120p*. It also offers continuous autofocus up to 2K/4K 120P, ensuring sharp focus during high-speed action, making it ideal for professionals in dynamic environments.

* When 4K 120P is selected in Super 35mm mode, the angle of view is cropped at approx. 6%.

Three Base ISO

The camera's Auto Selection feature changes between the three base ISO levels depending on the scene, selecting one with a higher S/N ratio while maintaining dynamic range. Users also can manually choose from the three base ISO* levels: ISO 400, ISO 1600 and ISO 6400 .

Using different base ISOs according to scene brightness (ISO sensitivity) helps reduce noise in videography.
*When using C-Log 2/3 & RAW: 800 / 3200 / 12800

Anamorphic Lens Support

When output to an LCD monitor or with MON. / SDI / HDMI, images are cropped to an angle of view of 2.39:1 after desqueezing.

The magnification ratio can be selected from OFF, 2x, 1.8x, or 1.3x in the menu (when shooting at 4K 60/50P, the desqueezing display is at 2K for MON. / SDI / HDMI). Data recorded for metadata can be configured separately from the magnification ratio.

Simultaneous Recording

The EOS C80 comes with dual memory card slots that support UHS-II SD Cards that are 3x faster than UHS-I SD Cards. This enables:

  • Double recording
  • Simultaneous recording of proxy files
  • Simultaneous recording of different formats
  • Relay recording

Logs that Expands Visual Expression

Canon Log 2

The Canon Log 2 retains details in medium-to-dark areas with film-like characteristics and provides linear output across a broader range. It enables precise exposure control with minimal colour shifts and preserves detail during post-editing, making it ideal for production environments based on Cineon-Log, such as film production.

Canon Log 3

Well-known for being user-friendly, the Canon Log 3 enables users to create videos with as little as basic tone adjustments through grading. Tightening the dark areas reduces the noise in the dark areas without compromising a broad dynamic range.

Combination IS

The EOS C80's In-body Digital IS and the In-lens Optical IS work together through coordinated control to deliver powerful image stabilisation. This is made possible by the RF mount, which allows high-speed communication between the lens and the camera.

Vertical Shooting UI

Improved Vertical UI Operability*

The camera offers a touch-based menu for recording features and LCD brightness settings, providing the same feel as standard horizontal shooting. This feature is particularly useful for producing videos for smart devices or digital signage. The camera also supports menu settings and LCD brightness adjustments in vertical shooting, providing an easy-to-read layout similar to standard horizontal shooting. Various settings and controls can be operated with touch.

Communication Support

IP streaming

With the new SRT protocol support, the EOS C80 simplifies live streaming for news programmes and video websites, making it a highly efficient tool for real-time broadcasting.

This feature seamlessly integrates into existing video production and editing workflows at broadcasters and other platforms, significantly enhancing their streaming capabilities.

Virtual Production Support

The EOS C80 with RF mount system supports virtual production, offering high-speed communication for real-time metadata output. This simplifies video composition and provides continuous correction data linked with zoom for seamless integration of camera footage and CG.

Additionally, it includes a plugin for Unreal Engine and Adobe After Effects, enabling easy import of movie file metadata for accurate and efficient compositing in virtual production workflows.

EOS VR System Support

The EOS C80 allows 180° VR shooting with the RF5.2mm F2.8 L DUAL FISHEYE lens. This technique simplifies VR production by recording with a single sensor, eliminating left/right synchronisation and post-shoot stitching.

Canon offers the EOS VR Utility with Adobe Premiere Pro plugin to improve workflow. These tools enable converting, editing, and producing VR content straightforward, ensuring a smooth shooting to production experience.

Multi-Function Shoe

Sporting a next-generation interface with high-speed communication interface, the Multi-Function Shoe supports various types of accessories by using power supply from the camera. The EOS C80 has two Multi-Function Shoe, one on the main body and another on the handle unit.
