It is the first¹ lens in the world for APS-C mirrorless cameras with a zoom ratio of 16.6x and 18-300mm focal length range (the full-frame equivalent of 27-450mm). Zooming from wide-angle to ultra-telephoto, it covers a broad array of shooting situations, including landscape, sports, wildlife, snapshots, and portraits. The lens's compact design makes it easy to carry every day, and it is ideal for travel and family activities.

With a 0.15m MOD (Minimum Object Distance) at the wide end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2, it lets you photograph subjects with a unique perspective. In addition, autofocus is very fast and accurate thanks to its precise, high speed VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. And for steady shots, it is equipped with Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) system. The most exciting feature of this lens is its 16.6x zoom ratio. It is the first APS-C mirrorless camera lens in the world to achieve this extreme. Its 18-300mm range provides the full-frame equivalent of 27-450mm. From ultra-telephoto photography taking advantage of lens compression, to wide-angle photography that captures vast landscapes, this lens supports many different types of photographic expression. The lens's very compact design weighs approximately 620g (21.9 oz). Plus, like most of Tamron's other lenses for mirrorless cameras, the filter size is unified at 67mm. Even at the ultra-telephoto focal length of 300mm (the full-frame equivalent of 450mm), it glides into focus comfortably from the minimum distance to infinity. The AF drive on the 17-70mm F2.8 includes an RXD motor unit to help you stay focused on the action. RXD uses an actuator to precisely control the rotational angle of the motor, allowing it to directly drive the focusing lens without passing through a reduction gear. A sensor that precisely detects the position of the lens enables high-speed and accurate AF, which is ideal when shooting continually moving subjects or recording video. MOD of 0.19m for Amazing Close-Up

This advanced lens focuses extremely close for a standard zoom lens for APS-C mirrorless cameras. The MOD is just 0.19m at the wide-angle end and 0.39m at the telephoto end. When shooting very close to the subject, the lens enables expressive imagery with highly blurred backgrounds, a feature unique to fast-aperture lenses.
