This camera not only integrates the very best components available; inputs were also sought from many leading photographers so that the end-product would best serve the everyday real-world needs of working pros. The Leaf AFi incorporates the latest Schneider AutoFocus Digital (AFD) lenses, which have been specifically created for use with 30+ MP digital camera backs, offering optimal focus while making the best use of high-resolution CCD sensors.

The AFD lenses by Schneider feature microcomputer-controlled, motor-driven diaphragm and shutter for precise, accurate performance. Lenses are fast, sharp, deliver brilliance and color balance, and are fully synchronized at all shutter speeds resulting in images of unmatched quality.

Leaf Shutter
The Leaf shutter blades in the PQS lenses use specially-made carbon fiber produced for the aerospace industry. Extremely light and frictionless because the blades are cushioned by air, the shutter and diaphragm in the lens are driven by two linear motors and controlled with maximum precision in 1/3 increments by the camera’s microcomputer.

Glass
AFi lenses include advanced glass types with particularly high refractive indices. These provide a combination of proper lens curvatures and suitable glass types, optimally corrected for sharp and brilliant images.

Anti-Reflection Coating
All lenses include High Fidelity Transfer (HFT) coating for optimum flare suppression and brilliant colors. The coating consists of special ultra-thin films evaporated on the lens surfaces. The result is a noticeable reduction in the amount of light reflected from the lens elements and thus less contrast-degrading flare. In addition, light transmission is increased, allowing full use of lens speed.

Leaf digital camera imaging modules add the power to this package, with the fastest shooting speeds in the market. Burst depths are now practically unlimited, and the Leaf AFi boasts a capture rate as high as 82 frames per minute (mirror up), using the latest communication and CF technologies. Three versions of the AFi are available. The AFi 5 has a 22 MP CCD, the AFi 6 is 28 MP and the AFi 7 is 33 MP. All have 16-bit color depth and a dynamic range of 12 f-stops.
