BroadcastAsia 2011: What An Adventure!

BroadcastAsia is one of Asia’s largest and leading professional broadcast event that is open to industry experts and professionals, and features a plethora of latest technology, innovations and gadgets for film, TV and digital signage. Held annually, this year's event took place over a period of four days from 21 - 24 June 2011 at Suntec Convention Centre and we are thrilled to be participate for the first time as an exhibitor under the Singapore Pavilion!

Not knowing what to expect from the event as a first-timer, we put on a display of all the best video products and accessories we have to offer, including:

We had a whale of a time at BroadcastAsia, gaining more exposure for our company and products in this ever-progressing industry, making new friends with broadcast/video professionals from all over the world and meeting up with our principals who have travelled from afar to attend the event, including Mark Blaker, Anthony Wong, Dora Ho and Sophi Chan from Genus. We learnt so much more, too, just by sharing with all of you!

We would like to give a shout of thanks to everyone who have made this possible for us in their own ways, including Sean Seah from Firewerkz Films for taking precious time out to be present at our booth on the first day and for bringing along his own Steadicam Zephyr, which almost always stopped traffic whenever Sean took it out for a demo. Sean also did an amazing video footage for us using most of our equipment that were on display - we'll post the link to this video towards the end of this post, but for now, we'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking:

(Above, extreme left) The new Manfrotto 055 Magnesium Photo-Movie Head with Q5 Quick Release (MH055M8-Q5). An ideal solution for the new HD DSLRs with video functions, this head provides maximum freedom in all directions, and allows smooth and controlled movements. The pan bar is also easily reversible for both left and right-handers.

(Above) Visitors to our booth were treated to lots of hands-on action, including the Zacuto Striker mounted on the Nikon D7000 with the new Lensbaby Composer Pro.

(Above) The Kessler KC-Lite 8.0 Camera Crane which arrived just in time for the event (counter-weight, tripod and tripod head not included)!

(Above, from left) The ultra-light and ultra-compact Steadicam Merlin offers light, agile and seamless shooting for today's videographer; the Apple iPad, which has been calibrated by the new SpyderGallery app from Datacolor (downloadable for free from Apple iTunes store), displaying photos of various products in-action in true colors the Spyder way; and lastly, the Genus Shoulder Brace System Kit, ideal for the DSLR shooter on the run, mounted on a Joby Gorillapod FOCUS - the toughest member of the Gorillapod family with a max. load of 5kg.

(Above) The new Lowepro S&F series - a modular system - showing visitors the many carrying options available for the multimedia photographer.

(Above) Visitors got to experience the stunning details that the EIZO CG303W-K monitor offers - of course, with the colors made more accurate by the Datacolor Spyder3Elite. The Drobo S and DroboPro FS on display also gave visitors a peek into the powerful yet simple-to-manage BeyondRAID technology that makes Drobo the best storage experience ever.

(Above) A visitor giving the Zacuto Indie Kit V2 a try. The Indie Kit V2, as its name suggests, is designed for the indie filmmaker, and has grips that can be moved up, down, left, right, and can even be fully articulated at the wrist.

(Above) The Blackbird Camera Stabilizer by Camera Motion Research combines high moments of inertia, low weight and a precision gimbal with SmoothTouch adjustable friction in the tilt and roll directions, while setting a new standard for ease-of-setup and adjustment.

(Above) Understanding the Zacuto EVF Flip, which has a Z-Finder frame built-in so that you can attach a Z-Finder Pro or Jr. and flip it open 180 degrees to view your shot on the EVF.

As promised, below is the video shot by Sean Seah on the first day of the event, using everything we had on display - a good showcase of what the products are capable of!

And before we go, we'd like to leave you with a few more photos to give you a better glimpse of what went on during BroadcastAsia:

It was truly a worthwhile experience for us, as it helped us to get to know the broadcast industry even better. For those of you who visited us during the four-day show, thank you for being a part of this experience and we hope to see all of you again soon!
