Coming Soon: The New Olympus E-5!

Posted on Oct 27, 2010 in News: Cameras & Digital Backs, Olympus

Since Olympus first announced its latest top-of-the-line DSLR offering in September this year, many photographers have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of E-5 on our shores. Well, you don't have to wait that much longer, because we are expecting the camera to hit our stores next Monday, 1 November 2010!

The E-5 succeeds the popular E-3 which was launched almost three years ago, and inherits the latter's highly reliable dust- and splash-proof body and excellent imaging capability of ZUIKO DIGITAL. For those less familiar, the camera body makes extensive use of seals and any dust that manages to penetrate its lightweight but rigid magnesium alloy body to the image sensor will be quickly removed by Olympus' award-winning Dust Reduction System1. This technology makes it possible for photographers to take pictures under the most punishing outdoor conditions without a worry.

Pictures taken with the E-5 are sharper and clearer than ever before, and this is all thanks to its "TruePic V+ " image processing engine with new Fine-Detail Processing technology. To enhance your shooting experience, the E-5 also boasts a 3-inch VGA HyperCrystal LCD monitor with dual-axis swivelling system that gives you more comfortable and flexible Live View shooting of movies and still images.

Check out the E-5's other impressive features below:

  • 12.3 megapixel High-Speed Live MOS Sensor
  • World's Fastest AF with 11 Point-Full-Twin Cross AF sensors2
  • 10 Art Filters, including new Dramatic Tone, for videos and still images
  • Underwater white balance control
  • High-speed sequential shooting of 5fps
  • Built-in image stabilization mechanism with compensation up to 5 EV steps3
  • Durable high-speed shutter tested to 150,000 releases3
