New Improved And More Eco-Friendly Lowepros

Posted on May 08, 2009 in News: Bags, Straps & Pouches, Lowepro

The Lowepro Nova AW series of shoulder bags, which has consistently been a popular choice for photographers at all experience levels, has been given a total revamp. The next generation Nova AW bags has been designed to carry and protect a digital SLR and accessories in the most rigorous of weather conditions. To suit different requirements and outfits they come in no less than six sizes and feature a patented 360º All Weather CoverTM which provides complete protection from the elements while still allowing photographers easy access to their equipment.

The newly launched models of the Nova AW series offer a large central compartment with movable dividers large enough to accommodate digital SLR kits. The larger models, Nova 180, 190, and 200 AW, can easily secure a pro digital SLR while the smaller models, Nova 140, 160, 170 AW, have been designed for enthusiast kits. The interior has been constructed of soft protective material specifically produced to protect sensitive digital equipment. A front access pocket provides safe and accessible storage for batteries, small accessories and other necessities. Memory card pockets on the inside front lid ensure cards are protected and available for quick changes.

Understanding that photographers need a shoulder bag that is as comfortable as it is functional, the new Nova AW models offer the ability to carry by hand with its soft, padded handle; by shoulder with its ergonomic, adjustable, removable shoulder strap with non-slip grip, or as a beltpack with its built-in belt loop. The larger 180, 190 and 200 AW models include a sleeve, allowing travelers to slip the bag over rolling luggage handles. All models are fitted with a 360º All Weather CoverTM which enables photographers to access their camera bag with the cover on and still continue working despite harsh weather.

Constructed of durable and attractive nylon exterior fabric, the Nova AW series is available in four sophisticated shades: Black, Bordeaux Red, Chestnut Brown and Ultramarine Blue.

Lowepro’s Terraclime range is a new addition to Lowepro’s line up of multi-purpose bags. Created in response to the concerns of eco-conscious, fashion-savvy consumers, the Terraclime range is Lowepro’s greenest series to date as more than 95% of Terraclime’s materials are recycled.

All bags in the series are constructed of 100% post-consumer, recycled Cyclepet® exterior fabric, using the equivalent of 2½ bottles in the smallest model to 22 bottles in the largest. Every bag therefore contributes towards conserving landfill, energy and crude and refined oil. The spacer mesh, providing a lean yet sturdy layer of protection, is 60% recycled PET. Terraclime’s hardware (including hook closures and zippers) is made from plastic regrind, recycled and repurposed industrial trimmings saved from the factory floor.

Available in black, plum or grass, Terraclime provides durable, soft-sided protection for a variety of cameras and digital gear – from pouches that hold ultra-compact point-and-shoot models, lenses, GPS units, iPods® and smart phones, to the largest shoulder bag model that carries a DSLR with attached lens. Terraclime is available in four models—the 10, 30 and 50 pouches, and the 100 shoulder bag. Each features a single compartment with additional pockets for memory cards, personal items or accessories. The 100 model includes a zippered interior pocket and a removable Cyclepet® wrap that envelopes a camera and provides an additional layer of protection. All models come with adjustable shoulder straps and can be worn over the shoulder or across the body (10, 30 and 50 include belt loops and removable straps).

Adding to the eco-friendly construction is a targeted cause: a portion of the proceeds of each Terraclime will go directly to Polar Bears International (PBI) to support their efforts to save polar bear habitats from the impact of climate change.

The third Lowepro model in the spotlight is the Primus AW series. This range of rugged, eco-friendly, dual-compartment camera backpacks has been extended by the addition of a smaller, yet fully featured Primus Minimus AW and the pro-sized notebook-compatible CompuPrimus AW.

The Primus Minimus AW carries one DSLR with attached medium zoom lens, 1-2 additional lenses, tripod and accessories plus personal gear. The CompuPrimus AW accommodates one pro DSLR with attached lens and 3-5 additional lenses, tripod, accessories and personal gear. It also features a removable notebook sleeve with integrated sunshade that fits most 15.4” notebooks and offers protection from glare.

Both models come in black or arctic blue/black and feature a dual-compartment design for flexible carrying options. The protective camera compartment offers adjustable dividers to organize a pro or smaller DLSR, camcorder, accessories, or any combination of gear for a custom kit. The upper compartment includes organization pockets and space for additional accessories or personal gear. In addition, an outside “hatch” pocket with compression straps creates ideal storage space for a jacket or hydration system.

A full set of premium features, added to increase the versatility of the packs, include: an ergonomic, 8-point harness system with DryFlo™ lining to distribute weight evenly and provide breathable comfort; Lowepro’s patented All Weather Cover™ to protect gear from the elements; an adjustable Glide-Lock™ system to attach a tripod or extra accessories; a Hideaway Tripod Mount™ to stabilize a tripod or monopod; a side-access panel to quickly access small DSLRs with attached medium lens without removing pack; built-in memory card pockets and a safety whistle; plus SlipLock™ attachment loops and compression straps.

As with the Terraclime series, all Primus bags are constructed of 100% post-consumer, recycled Cyclepet® exterior fabric and a portion of the proceeds from each Primus AW backpack will be donated to Polar Bears International (PBI).
